My Mother, Agnes Hulme, took this photograph c.1950, around the time we came to live at No.12 Canal St. The shop, no.10, was owned by Drinkwater's builders, we lived next-door-but-one at no.12, and later at No.11 which at some time had been part of the white house, Pear Tree Cottage - we had cupboards which had been connecting doorways. My mother lived in No. 11 until her death aged 90 in 2012. Above the doorway of Pear Tree Cottage were some curious carved stone heads. What happened to them?
