No wonder the chimney was taken down, it looks well out of plumb, I wouldn't have liked to work under it

Maybe the photo was taken the day the chimney was demolished, just as it began to topple.

There are many photos showing the chimney a lot more vertical. So the idea that it is being demolished is probably correct.
