After the pub closed it was owned by a scrap dealer called John Sergeant who was attacked whilst asleep one night and seriously injured. His attackers wanted the key to his scrap yard safe. John was very seriously hurt and the crime was not solved until by chance some 12 years later when a group of men were arrested for an attack on another man.
One of them did a deal with the cops and he told them all sorts of stuff including the attack on Sergeant 12 years previously. He also told them that there were bodies buried in the Goyt Valley.
The police didn't believe him at first but eventually 3 bodies were discovered in shallow graves up there.

The present occupier of the Old Bull's Head is Mrs Hennessy. Her husband Gary (a very lovely man) died quite recently. He was 51 I believe.
