This is a photo of Turner's Memorial drinking Fountain.
It was where the buses used to stop but in 1959 a local black van ran into it and it was taken down and put in the council's works yard at the back of the market.
It lay there for many years and it is surprising that none of it went missing.
I had a photo of the van smashed into the memorial but sadly I seem to have lost it.

Turner's Memorial was the Buxton focal point for Princess Diana's funeral and there were thousands of flowers placed around it.

I've put a photo on the forum under 'photos that may or may not have been on here before'. I assume it is when it was either being rebuilt or repaired at some stage.
