Years ago, before the Welfare State, trade unions and the like, people had to manage on their own; usually on starvation wages and unsatisfactory conditions. How it was to live in those days.

1937 Sep 14 Agreed that a set of photographs of the centenary procession be framed and hung in clubroom.
1937 Dec 14 Agreed that framing of centenary photos be left to Secretary and that it be hung in club room on March quarter night 1938 if completed.
1938 Mar 8 Agreed that photo be taken of officials in office in centenary year 1937. The president, trustees, secretary and committee at Board Inn on June 14th 1938, and that it be framed to hang up in clubroom. Secretary to make arrangements.
1938 Jun 14 Photograph of committee taken on this day. Agreed that a potato pie supper be held at unveiling of Committee picture at own cost. (Supper postponed, then cancelled.)
1938 Sep 13 Agreed that A. Collier, trustee, unveils picture of committee.

I don’t have much information on this but presumably the road referred to is the Chapel Turnpike Road.
No idea of dates or much else really.

Whereas

Francis Gaskell of Lyme Handley bequeathed
ten shillings a year to the Poor of Kettleshulme
to be distributed by the Overseers every Christmas
day in bread to ten Poor Families to be paid out
of the interest arising from bonds in the Chapel in
le Frith Road. And whereas the said bonds having
become extant James Jackson of Macclesfield
has charged his Copyhold Estate in Kettleshulme
called Sponds Bottom with the yearly sum of ten
shillings to be distributed in the above manner every
Christmas day for
