#2935 Family Tree

Post by chez46 » Thu Feb 07, 2019 11:41 am

Hi Everyone
Thanks for adding me to the site.

This is a bit of a long shot, but I was recommended to try this forum, I am working on my family tree.
I am trying to locate more information on a Mr John Kirk Dyer(my Grandfather) and
Florence Heapy (my Grandmother) they were married in 15 June 1935, at the parish church Fernilee.
Both grandparents sadly have passed now, what I do know they did divorce, and he was never discussed again!
Florence Heapy born 1904 and lived in Far End Fernilee and her parents were called Louis Fredrick Heapy and Rachel Mycock (which I believe was a huge family in the area) they were married on 31st May 1904, Florence also had a sister called Maggie.
John K Dyer was born 13th April 1912 and lived at 442 George Street Yeardsley Cum Whaley and his parents were John William Robertson Dyer (was a postman) and Elizabeth Miller.
John K Dyer profession bleach works, Market Rep ?
Other than the above, the trail goes cold, any help or leads would be grateful

Thanks Cheryl

Hi Cheryl

I have been having a scout around on Ancestry and found that a John K Dyer's death was registered in the March qtr 1966 in Chapel-en-le-Frith age 53. He didn't move far away ! Haven't managed to find him and Florence on the 1939 for some reason - probably not looking close enough. :-)

Hi Cheryl

Further investigation has found that John K Dyer had possibly re-married in 1954
which was registered at Chapel en le Frith in the Jan Feb Mar qtr.
Mary E. Crossland was the name of his spouse. She was found living in New Mills in 1939 register.
living on High Street.

  Obviously I didn't look hard enough Gritch !!!

Don't know why I couldn't find what you did :-( However, am very glad you did. Interesting that you found another marriage for J K Dyer - perhaps this is what the "never spoken about again" phrase is about ! Great work Gail - well done !

Hi to you all,

Thank you all for your help, I have now got a starting point.

I am not sure why he was not talked about, but he certainly was classed as the black sheep!!!! maybe if he did get married again this was the reason, hopefully will find out the full story one day.

Much appreciated

Thanks Cheryl
