Next Season

A genuinely exciting end to the season with the winner of REMS v Bulls probably taking the trophy this year. I say probably as I admit I am not sure if it's goal difference or results between the teams that counts more. It's at Chinley, and I shall probably be there if my team can spare me to learn the rules (!) and stop any fighting breaking out. We also have the trophy to award.

Than there is a spare match the following week and I don't think there was enthusiasm for finals -type night thsi year. Let us know if that is wrong.

I propose that this year we have the AGM/registration on Thurs 8 Sept (Derbys schools go back the previous week) and then looking to start 2 weeks after. Any comments on those ideas?

Thanks Geoff, we look forward to seeing you at Rems next week.

I’d like to thank the Malt for a hugely enjoyable and enormously tense match last night that went right down to the wire. We’d gone about five down by question ten and spent the remaining fifty questions clawing our way back.

We were also discussing finals night - lots of interesting ideas being thrown around. Perhaps this is discussion for the AGM.

Thanks Giroliddy for your comments. A truly tense match - not to be forgotten.

While we are not fully quorate at present, the proposed schedule for AGM and 22/23 season looks good. We would, however, reiterate that the Finals should be before end of May 2023, and we would have no problem in having only one Thursday at Christmas and Easter, lost, if that’s what is needed to finish by end May.

Good luck to REMS and the Bull’s Head on Thursday, thanks to the Committee for their sterling work this year (with all its challenges) and see you all in September.

On behalf of Quad, thank you Sandy.

Just in case people are having sleepless nights about it, REMS won their match by 1 (and they needed to lose by 12 to be toppled) and they did the same the prior week against Malt (in that match 28-27 meant only 5 questions were unanswered). It's alll about the ground-out 1-0s then. Paper v Kinder was a draw and Old Hall had to concedem unable to make up a team. Proper scores up shortly.

So the top of league table looks like this: REMS-Bulls-OddiesAtPapermill-Malt-Kinder with the single match to come.

Congratulations to REMS! But it wasn't a walkover this year!

I felt that the draw between us (papermill/oddies) and the Kinder Lodge was the right score for a closely fought match, with the questions being a strange mixture of "guess the number" ones and some very interesting ones to balance these out. A fitting end to the season for us, reaching 3rd place behind the two stellar teams of REMS and Bulls Head.
Thanks to the organising committee for this season, and who I am sure will get the website updated as soon as they can.
