Re: Is anyone else worried?

I don't know the answer to the above question, but in the US (where the leader has a strange view of science and a stranger grasp on reality), CBS reported the following. "A Florida man who initially downplayed the coronavirus crisis is now warning others to take it seriously after he and his wife w...

Re: Old Quiz Number Six Answers

49/60 this week (*by myself I'd have got about 20 I think) It does occur to me that the quiz league would have long ended by now! And we'd be out enjoying the sunshine (!) This being SVQL, and me getting into a grumpy old man, I have to point out Q1 - shortest Dickens novel - A Christmas Carol has 2...

Re: Old Quiz Number Five Answers

Depending on what "sauce" you use, there are 3-4 3/4 teaspoons to the tablespoon. Yes, we noted. That's why such questions best avoided. And why the metric system is a tad better. Oh, the simple pleasures. Setting the rules, then running away to Durham and Bernard Castle, or criticizing simple quiz ...

Re: Old Quiz Number Five Answers

Can we have Norm. Much underrated I feel. (Especially when he has the answers).
Also (by using email to chat) we do take a tad longer than 30 seconds to answer. But then answers come 4 days later.

Re: Old Quiz Number Five

I know there are a load of quizzes out there now, but I do appreciate Norm's Thurs revival quiz. Measures the week nicely. And we now do it as half a team, which is even more fun. Others fancy trying it?

Re: Old Quiz Number Four

I wondered if I knew some of these question. Then I thought, "Was I in the league then?" The answer was just - no. But as I looked back over the history, I noted a few things. 1) 2007-8 Chalkers won the Plate 42-37 2) The first year recorded, we had 30 teams; now exactly half. Dunno if the quality m...

Re: Old Quiz Number Three Answers

We decided to club together answers between 4 of us, and surprise, we were much better - 32/60. Are REMS playing as a team? It does help having longer than 30 secs - it's not quite "quiz conditions" I researched the military questions (sorry!) - Wootton Bassett was used until 2011 (this was set in 2...

It is the difference between an American and a European wheel. The American wheel has an extra slot so you have to add another 18 making 684.
Internally I went "ah, I see". but cannot see this extra 18 on the US wheel on the web. An extra 00 yes, but not 18. Where did you spot it?

Re: Old Quiz Number Two Answers

Only 24 for me. Yes to getting pigeon. (Hmm don't think they hear the call of king and country. Still like the Churchill quote "cats look down on us, dogs look up. Only pigs are on the same level." Tbf he did bread pigs.) Also yes to Dick - as always I like his diatribes. Plus aren't ALL ambassadors...

22 for me. But true to this forum I dispute the answers! Of course! Green Cross Man (1970) and Amalgam.
Still I won half a signed photo from a certain political leader today, so happy!

Looking forward to it. Answered 42 but includes guesses. There was an antediluvian time without this message board? No! How did we have fun without correcting the questions & answers?* Without Tony's over-extended stories? (Do you know how he is?) *If you really want to know what over-correction loo...
