Help for people with ME/CFS in and around Stockport

SMEG welcomes those struggling to recover after Covid

More than six months into the global coronavirus crisis, we are hearing about previously healthy people who have had (or probably had) Covid-19 and have not been able to return to their normal health and energy levels. These reports are not just from those people who were seriously ill in hospital but from people who had a less severe case of the illness which they managed at home. Of these post-Covid people there seem to be two main groups.

Group one still have the symptoms relating to Covid and the complications that it’s caused with breathing and the respiratory system and possibly also have neurological symptoms as well.

Group two have “recovered” from the Covid symptoms but now are struggling with a post viral syndrome akin to ME/CFS and have symptoms such as post exertional malaise, unrefreshing sleep, brain fog, dizziness etc

Here at SMEG we welcome anyone who is suffering post-Covid so please do get in touch by phone, email or via our facebook page and we will do our best to provide support and information. Please recognise, however, that whilst we welcome everyone, we are probably better placed to support those people in Group two (see above) who are experiencing PVFS/ME/CFS symptoms rather than those in Group one who still have serious on going respiratory type issues.

As numbers grow, support for those with post - Covid is also growing both within the NHS and outside.
